Overview
There are numerous sources for videos of Kidney operations we have viewed, seeking the most appropriate to place on Kidney Cancer Resource.
One consideration in our choice has been a prefference for sources where it is neccessary that the viewer must sign in - this is not a prerequisite in our choice but a prefference - the reason being that we have intentionally tried to structure the site in a 3 dimensional manner where the basic information is in its most understandable and simple form at the surface and as the reader seeks out more information by either diversifying their quest or seeking more deeply they face the caveats of ever more graphic or explanatory material.
We have strived to ensure that no one investigating will find themselves confronted with data or information that they are not entirely prepared to understand or take on board.
We therefore ask you to consider whether you in fact wish to watch a graphic visual display of a Kidney operation, before you proceed.
To Proceed
To go to the site to Sign In Click Here it will only take you a couple of minutes to complete the Sign in process.
Once you are Logged In we suggest that you return to this page.
To Watch A Diagramatic Laparoscopic Nephrectomy
To watch a diagramatic Laparoscopic Nephrectomy this shows in a series of slides with clearly drawn details of each stage of the procedure and all the various Laparoscopic instruments are clearly shown and explained.
To watch this copy the web address (URL) below and paste it into your Search Bar above:
http://www.websurg.com/ref/search-ot02en261.htm
OR: Click Here
To Watch A Live Film Of A Laparoscopic Nephrectomy
Having watched the diagramatic procedure you may now wish to watch a film of a real Laparoscopic Nephrectomy which lasts about 15 minutes to watch, in its editted form (editted to make it shorter NOT to avoid any of the operation)
To watch the live operation: either copy the full URL Web Address below and paste it into the Search Bar at the top of the screen:
http://www.websurg.com/ref/Retroperitoneal_laparoscopic_radical_nephrectomy-vd01en1314e.htm
Or: Click Here
Alternately watch the removal of a left Kidney with a 9.2cm. Tumour by pasting in the URL Retroperitoneal Laparoscopic radical Nephrectomy below:
http://www.websurg.com/video/index.php?doi=vd01en1314e&media=wm&nomediasave=1
Or: Click Here
In both instances these Film Clips should come up in English - IF you have a problem: do Select The Appropriate Flag for the language of your choice.
The films are fascinating and full of detail which you may wish to watch again - you will realise from watching these film clips that it is clearly a major operation but that with care your Surgical Team can ensure a safe outcome and a relatively rapid recovery.
Caveat
We have been unable to find a film of a nephrectomy which is not too technical for the layman to follow - don't be intimidated by this, as fortunately the surgical team performing the procedure will have many years of experience between them.
Some may not wish to watch this operation until after they have had their nephrectomy however others like myself may be fascinated to know exactly what was intended for them.
The choice is entirely yours but please do not feel pressurised by anyone to watch the film if you are in any way uneasy - treat it like an episode of 'Your Life In Their Hands' and watch it as a medical documentary, if it helps to distance yourself but you still wish to view the film.
