WIKI based resources such as this offer the benefit that Registered Users (registration is free) can simply update/add and amend the information contained within the site. Join Now & Join In, to help

This resource has been started and created by two UK Kidney Cancer patients, Andy Thomas (dx.2007) and Greg Lance-Watkins (presented 1998 - Dx.2001), who both found it hard to hunt down the information they needed to properly judge their own condition and to make informed decisions, when they first presented with Early Kidney Cancer Symptoms as sadly Kidney Cancer Symptoms are all too frequently overlooked or misinterpreted.

We would like to thank all who help now and have helped in the past - Health Professionals, family, friends, carers and fellow patients - We dedicate this site to them for you.

When a Challenge like cancer hits you, panic can sometimes get the better of you. Our hope is that this resource will give anyone the information they need to ensure they are getting the best treatment & follow-up care and to help them to be more able to communicate how they feel.

This is your site, and as we all learn we help ourselves. With knowledge comes strength and the capacity to make informed decisions, or at the very least a better understanding that helps us ask the right questions.

artwork by Lee for KCR - The Aims of Kidney Cancer Resource
  • To provide a living organic resource of information that Kidney Cancer Patients, Carers and Medical Professionals can easily maintain themselves.
  • That the surface information, (being approximately those covered by the pages in the primary link in the sidebar on the left) should be easily understood and avoid being complex or technical. We aim to be easy to understand for someone who has little medical knowledge and only basic computer skills.
  • To communicate in plain every day English to help those who have an interest in the Challenges of kidney cancer and related diseases and disorders in general.
  • The initial pages should help inform the reader in generalities, without being too complicated, or even exact in style, offering the patient or family member a simple basic understanding of the Challenges involved.
  • Users should be able to find more in depth material by Clicking on links from within the initial pages.
  • To provide the simplest, comprehensive and regularly updated resource for those with a serious interest
  • To provide this bredth of services for all the cancers which commonly present through Urology including those listed at the header of this page & varieties such as Wilms Tumour.

Do use the Search Box at the top left of this page - the more you use it the easier you will find it to use.

We hope you find the site easy to use. We realise it is unlikely that we will manage to please everyone, and therefore we appreciate any and all constructive recommendations. Particularly such recommendations as may be accompanied by assistance in building & maintaining the resource for others.

artwork by Lee for KCR - What Shall We Tell The .....?

We are working on a series of briefing papers for each of the groups below highlighting the challenges involved. The aim is that you can print these out to give to people. We appreciate that these are tough and painful subjects to deal with , and in that respect as with everything on the site your input is invaluable, so please let us know how you think these can be improved.

It is also worth noting that users have been creating their own Blogs/Diaries which can also be accessed through the KCRUsers link on the left sidebar menus. If you are not ready, willing or able to talk about it, you may find it easier to point people in the direction of these rather than trying to explain yourself. The History and comments on these Blogs/Diaries can be very insightful.

Please click on this link before you start editing. The rules are meant as a simple way of ensuring that the format is kept as consistent as possible.

Take a few minutes to read through the Support Help section on the left hand menu and then come back to the site and start adding to the most valuable of resources .... information.

As an example page check out Andy Thomas' Story Page. In there you can find some basic Hyperlinks. Click on the Edit tab at the top of the page and you'll see how it's all done.

To search for information either click on a link you think maybe relevant or use the search box in the left hand menu (The Sidebar). The search will either return the exact page you are looking for or it will return a list of suggestions.

There is also an FAQ section for Frequently Asked Questions that may provide some answers.

  • Go to the box in the left hand column (Sidebar) that best names the problem and if it isn't on the disease front page go to the Google Page Named and then start going through the 100s/1,000s of links, laid out month by month daily.
